'Work to Wickes', House, Camberwell, London.
Curated by Timothy Holt and Elena Vasiliadou.
Social Artist, Timothy Holt, transformed House in Camberwell with 'Work to Wickes', a visual installation encapsulating everyday building material and physical space.
The exhibition traced the Social Artist's playful nature to elaborate the ordinary and raises questions about how objects are perceived.
The centrepiece of the exhibition 'Work to Wickes', 2014 was an intervention into the space that comes alive through audience interaction. Everyone was welcomed to explore the evenly layered sand creation. This extension of blurring boundaries in a museum context suggested the unanswered, much debated within conceptual practices.
The show engaged a diverse methodology for appropriating construction within an artistic location, coaxing the spectator to question, tease as well as navigating their way around our current world and thereby heightening our dependent bond to materials.
