'Bags for Life', The Gallery, The Island, Bristol.
Curated by Timothy Holt.
Timothy Holt transformed The Gallery at The Island, Bristol with 'Bags for Life', a visual performance that encapsulated everyday objects and physical space. The event traced the Social Artist's playful nature to elaborate the ordinary and raises questions of objects' perception.
'Bags for Life', 2015, constructed from disposable bags and bag less robotic vacuum cleaners, encapsulated the pure properties of these household objects, drawing on our understanding of the mundane. By using naturally discarded objects, disposable bags, Holt invited the audience to experience these recognisable items anew through an instinctively playful interaction.
The unpredictably nature of the work only acted to enhance its accessibility, to engage the viewer with Holts' performance and the space alike.
